Ride along with me on the one and only Rustic Road of Kewaunee County, Route 7. This route is located South of Ellisville off of Highway 29 and County Road AB. This route is 3.5 miles long, paved and well marked. Yahoo!! It is such a rarity that when I come across one I have to do a little happy dance in the car.
It is an easy drive through the country, some high hills with blind driveways, farms and open fields with a few areas that are thick with trees. Every turn occurs at a stop sign. If the road comes to an end the Rustic Roads sign is in front of you with an arrow pointing the way.
If it is a four-way stop, look for the sign to be near the stop sign. Super easy, stress-free and a lot of fun to drive. Unless your an early morning driver, then it gets a bit tense because the sun will blind you the entire way. Be mindful of the many homes that line this route which also has people walking or biking along the way.
This route is also used by large milk trucks who come up and over hills quickly and without warning. Be ready to speed up or pull over to let them pass. The route ends at Wisconsin Highway 29 which can lead you back to Green Bay or head North to Door County.
These scenic drives are broken down by county as most of them are not connected.
